Styling Your Mini

Meet Saskia Uster, Director of Second Sprouts, who is renowned for her love of designer kids wear.  We're thrilled to highlight something new that Saskia is launching – her Styling Your Mini online service, Second Sprouts Styling Studio.

With a Diploma in Fashion Design and years of styling experience for Melbourne’s high-end boutiques, Saskia has learnt the art of balancing trend-driven looks with timeless capsule quality. Her passion? Colour (the more, the merrier!), playful prints, and mixing textures in ways that make every outfit feel fresh, fun, and totally wearable for kids.

As a mum to two boys, Eli (5) and Arlo (2.5), she knows how quickly little wardrobes need refreshing, and also how easy it is to fall into the “just practical” trap.  "But children’s fashion doesn’t have to be plain or predictable.  In 2025, we’re celebrating bold designs, creative styling, and looks that build confidence from the very first wear."

Here’s the exciting part: "I don’t source from mainstream fast fashion. Instead, I carefully handpick pieces from talented small businesses and boutique children’s brands across Australia.  These pieces are not only ethically made and beautifully crafted, but they also let me curate outfits that are both on-trend and unique."  Think playful cuts, trending palettes, and the little design details that make all the difference.

Through Styling Your Mini, Saskia combines this curated approach with expert styling advice - "helping mums create wardrobes their kids will actually love wearing, and supporting children’s store owners with fresh outfit direction that reflects what’s trending right now."  From sizing recommendations and fabric feel to colour concepts and outfit-building, Saskia makes the process simple, fun, and inspiring.

Because at the end of the day, clothes are more than clothes, right?  They tell a story, spark confidence, and let our children’s personalities shine.
